Whether your family has pets, wants pets, or just wants to see lots of pets, this event is sure to please. There will be tons of exhibitors, prize drawings, book signings, live entertainment, and much more. Pets are welcome, of course, and there will even be discounted vaccinations and nail trimming services available. Visit the Richmond Pet Expo website for more information and a complete schedule of events.
Electric Football World Championships and Convention
July 31st—August 2nd at the Richmond Airport Sheraton
While this event may be slightly unorthodox, that doesn’t make it any less fun! This three-day event features electric football enthusiasts from across the country gathering for tournaments. Find out all about this classic game, how new players can get started, and how you can join local and national electric football leagues. Visit the official electric football website for more information.
World Road Cycling Championships
September 19th-27th, 2015
This event is technically after the end of summer, but it’s so big that you might want to start planning for it now. The Road Cycling Championship is truly one of the great sporting events of the world, and will attract spectators, athletes, and journalists from dozens of countries to the Richmond area. You can watch the races as a spectator, or get involved by volunteering (yes, this event is so big that there is even a separate website just for volunteers). Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness hundreds of top cyclists compete for the title of best in the world!
